The long-awaited Nugenix was announced by Direct Digital, LLC in August 2012. In a press release, the company claimed Nugenix is a “first-of-its-kind product” for men who want higher testosterone and libido.
I was curious to see if Nugenix really is a unique testosterone supplement. I also wanted to see what user feedback it received.
*** Since writing this review we have received and heard a heavy amount of complaints about the the Nugenix “free trial”. We do not sell nor are we in any way affiliated with Nugenix. Terms and Conditions on Nugenix.com state that “you will be enrolled in our autoship program and, as part of the program, we will automatically send you a fresh one-month supply of Nugenix beginning in 18 days and every 30 days thereafter for just $69.99 plus $4.99 shipping and handling per supply, charged each month to the card you provide today”

Does Nugenix Have a Unique Formula?
“Nugenix completely changes the landscape of the men’s vitality category,” says Brandon Adcock, Direct Digital president and co-founder. “It is about building overall wellness and confidence.”
Other than this statement, the company does not explain in detail why Nugenix is unique. So, let’s see if it contains unique ingredients:
Zinc – enhances testosterone production and increases sperm count.
Vitamin B6 – supposedly promotes testosterone production. However, there are no studies to support this claim.
Vitamin B12 – boosts energy, improves brain function, and enhances mood.
Testofen – significantly increases testosterone and prevents testosterone from converting into estrogen.
L-Citrulline Malate – converts into highly-bioavailable arginine, which increases nitric oxide and improves blood flow. One study found L-citrulline improves erectile function.
Tribulus Terrestris – creates luteinizing hormones which stimulate the testes to produce more testosterone.
These ingredients are not unique to Nugenix. In fact, most testosterone supplements contain every single ingredient. Also, GNC.com’s “Men’s Vitality” category has several testosterone supplements with these same ingredients. So, there’s not much support for the claim that Nugenix “changes the landscape” of this category.
Does Nugenix Produce Unique Results?
No. Since Nugenix has the same ingredients as other supplements, it may produce similar results. So the question is: will it produce the same results?
Zinc, Testofen, and Tribulus Terrestris are clinically proven to increase testosterone. However, the clinically proven dosages must be included for these ingredients to be effective.
Nugenix contains 5 mg Zinc, which is 6.6% DV. This is an insignificant amount. It is not large enough to increase testosterone.
I don’t know what the Testofen and Tribulus Terrestris dosages are. Direct Digital combines these ingredients and L-Citrulline Malate into a 2,103 mg proprietary blend. As a result, consumers cannot see if Nugenix contains effective dosages.
I am unable to determine if Nugenix boosts testosterone, enhances erections, and increases libido.
Is Nugenix Safer Than Other Testosterone Supplements?
I ran into more problems while answering this question thanks to the proprietary blend. Nugenix may be as safe as other testosterone supplements. But I don’t know how safe it is because I cannot see if safe dosages are used.
The small zinc dosage is safe. The 2 mg vitamin B6 dosage is 100% Daily Value. The vitamin B12 dosage is 850% Daily Value. But such a large dosage is unlikely to be toxic.
WebMD.com says Testofen, Tribulus Terrestris, and L-Citrulline Malate are “possibly safe” when used in the recommended dosages.
What Do Users Say About Nugenix?
Since I found so few answers by researching the formula, I was hoping customer reviews would give me more information…
22 users rated Nugenix 3/5 stars on GNC.com. I read each review and didn’t see side effect complaints or problems. However, most people were disappointed because they didn’t see improvements after using Nugenix. Here are some typical quotes:
“This product was a waste of money and time. No changes in strength, energy, or anything positive.” – DJ35DJ
“I have been taking this product for 3 months and have noticed little or no difference.” – aquamaxx
The Nugenix reviews and ratings on Amazon.com told the same story. 17 users gave the supplement a 2.6/5 star rating. More people gave 1 star reviews than gave 4 and 5 star reviews. What’s more, a couple reviewers were convinced that the 5 star reviews are fake. After seeing how overwhelmingly positive these reviews were, I became skeptical, too.
The 5-star reviewers said Nugenix worked wonders and changed their lives. But Nugenix isn’t the only product to receive such glowing reviews. These writers gave the same glowing feedback to blood pressure monitors and fruit jam.
These positive reviews could be 100% legitimate. But it doesn’t change the fact that most people gave Nugenix negative ratings.
There are 90 capsules in each Nugenix bottle. One serving size is 3 capsules so each bottle lasts 30 days. These are the 3 best places to buy Nugenix:
• LuckyVitamin.com: $55.99
• Amazon.com: $69.95
• Nugenix.com: $69.99
There is no return policy when you buy Nugenix from Amazon.com.
LuckyVitamin.com and Nugenix.com have limited 45 and 30 day return policies; respectively. They only issue refunds for unopened, unused bottles. In other words, you cannot return Nugenix after you try it. So, if you try it and don’t get results, you are out of luck.
If you return Nugenix to LuckyVitamin.com after 30 days, there is a 20% restocking fee.
To return Nugenix to the official website call 1-855-714-3234.
Nugenix is not the unique testosterone supplement Direct Digital claims it is. It has ingredients which are found in most testosterone supplements. However, 3 key dosages are hidden, so I don’t know if Nugenix is as safe and effective as other products.
Based on customer ratings, I’m inclined to think Nugenix is not an above-average product. No Nugenix reviews mentioned side effects, but most didn’t mention positive results either.
I recommend you try a different testosterone supplement than Nugenix. Most should have similar ingredients, and an exceptional few show if they contain safe, effective dosages.
